Stephen Curry, known for his extraordinary skills on the basketball court and his philanthropic endeavors, has become an iconic figure in the United States. Nevertheless, his image has recently undergone a slight tarnish due to his and his wife’s objection towards the construction of a multi-family housing development near their residence in California.

Curry Atherton home: Couple asks leaders to not building townhomes in neighborhood

During a lively TNT broadcast, Steph Curry playfully poked fun at Andre Iguodala’s golf skills. The dynamic duo currently reside in a luxurious California mansion, conveniently located near Curry’s team, the Golden State Warriors. However, they have expressed apprehension about their safety if certain proposed changes to the surrounding area come to fruition.

Curry’s Letter Opposing the Housing Development

“Being residents of Atherton, we have been closely following the updates on the housing element, particularly regarding the 23 Oakwood property,” expressed the Currys in their letter of opposition.

While we hesitate to contribute to the “not in our backyard” rhetoric, we feel compelled to voice our concerns prior to today’s meeting.

The safety and privacy of our family, especially our children, have always been our utmost priority and served as significant factors in our decision to make Atherton our home.

It is evident that the concerns raised by Curry are shared by other local residents regarding the proposed development. This reaction is quite natural, given that affluent areas with prominent figures tend to be wary of the idea of lower-income families moving into their neighborhood.

As space for residential developments becomes increasingly scarce in the USA, it is not surprising that they are starting to encroach upon private properties like the one owned by the Curry family.

Forbes reports that the median home price in Atherton exceeds seven million dollars, ranking it among the top five most expensive zip codes in the country.
